What to expect

While active travel is often associated with dense urban environments, delivering successful walking and cycling outcomes requires different approaches depending on the local context. strategies that work in metropolitan centres may not be suitable for growing suburban communities, regional centres or rural towns.

Join Stantec for a discussion with Jerah Fox, Transport Manager at Wollongong City Council, exploring how active transport can be planned and delivered across different urban scales and community settings.

Stantec transport planners will share insights and lessons learnt from projects across NSW and Australia, examining how active travel infrastructure, policy and planning responses must adapt to local needs and opportunities.

The session will explore:

· Delivering active transport outcomes in different urban scales

· Planning active travel networks in growth areas and emerging communities

· Supporting walkability and cycling in regional cities and small towns

· Creating practical active travel opportunities in rural environments

· Connecting local initiatives to broader strategic transport objectives

· Aligning active transport outcomes with state government policy and Future Transport objectives

Arrive from 5:30 pm to enjoy networking with fellow transport professionals before the presentation commences at 6:00 pm.

The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion, exploring how active transport can contribute to healthier communities, improved accessibility and more sustainable transport networks across NSW.
