What to expect

Unlike inner Brisbane, Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast are characterised by lower densities, greater dependence on private vehicles and a relatively limited public transport network. As a result, rail stations have become critical transport nodes where large numbers of commuters rely on Park and Ride facilities to access Brisbane. With major projects such as The Wave progressing through planning, these regions present an important opportunity to rethink how active transport integrates with public transport. Instead of viewing stations purely as boarding locations, they can become mobility hubs that support walking, cycling and better connections to surrounding communities. This creates an ideal discussion topic that combines active transport, public transport planning, precinct planning and regional growth.
