What to expect

This webinar explores how Large Language Models (LLMs) can support transport professionals in developing Python-based analytical tools. Through practical demonstrations, participants will learn how AI can streamline coding, automate data analysis, and improve transport modelling workflows while recognising the importance of expert validation to ensure accurate and reliable outcomes. The session will identify the shortcomings of inappropriate prompting and how that affects the results.

Registrations open 20 August 2026.

Learning Outcomes

  • Participants will learn to understand the role of LLMs in transport data analysis and Python programming.
  • Learn how to apply prompt engineering techniques for transport modelling tasks.
  • Learn to identify limitations and common errors in AI-generated code.
  • Evaluate and validate AI-assisted outputs using transport engineering principles.
  • Discover how to implement an expert-in-the-loop approach for developing reliable analytical tools.

Who should attend this session

Suitable for transport planners, transport engineers, researchers, data analysts, consultants, government practitioners, and academics who use Python, transport models, or data analytics and are interested in responsibly applying AI to engineering and transport analysis. Not suitable for experts in agentic AI as this will provide the basic of using AI for data analysis.
