What to expect
As communities place greater focus on creating healthier, safer environments for children, the journey to school has become a key transport planning challenge.
Join us for a series of short presentations from Lucy Saunders, Founder of Healthy Streets, and Liz Irvin from Stantec. They will explore how schools, councils and communities can support better travel outcomes through thoughtful transport planning and behaviour change.
Drawing on Stantec’s involvement in developing the Austroads Travel to School Guideline, this session will highlight how combining infrastructure upgrades with community-led initiatives and cross-sector collaboration can help encourage active travel and deliver long-term community value.
Following the presentations, Lucy and Liz will be joined by:
· Ellie Marriott: a practitioner involved in the Community Informed Transport Plan process; and
· a local council representative with experience delivering travel to school programs.
This panel discussion will explore why a community-informed approach to school transport planning can make walking, riding and public transport safer and more practical options for school communities.
