What to expect
This course provides a foundational understanding of how car parking systems are planned, designed, and managed within urban environments.
It begins with an introduction to the role of parking in urban contexts, including a focus on the needs and behaviours of the people who use parking systems.
The course then examines parking within Activity Centres, highlighting the tools and approaches required to effectively manage parking resources. Topics include the stages of parking management, the role of parking restrictions, parking as part of the transport interchange, shared and reciprocal parking arrangements, pricing principles, and enforcement practices.
Participants will also explore key principles and approaches to delivering parking as part of new developments.
Throughout the course, these elements are framed within a broader understanding of how parking can support sustainable transport outcomes while balancing the needs of communities, local governments, and developers.
This session is ideal for professionals new to transport planning, local government, property development, or facilities management.
Registrations closing 18 August 2026.
