What to Expect

In this webinar, Alex Bubke will showcase the new Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Inclusive Precincts Guide, which provides a comprehensive overview of best-practice design features for creating accessible and inclusive public transport precincts.

Precincts are the public areas within and around transport nodes such as bus stops and stations, train and light rail stations, ferry terminals, taxi ranks and other public transport infrastructure and premises. Traditionally, accessibility has been viewed through an individual, asset-based lens, with compliance against legislative obligations and design standards as the primary metric.

However, the Inclusive Precincts Guide proposes a more holistic approach that adopts the key principles of Universal Design, Co-Design and Exceeding Minimum Standards, alongside a precinct-wide mind-set, as critical to creating a truly integrated and accessible transport network for all.
