What to expect
This meeting is exclusively for those who work in local government.
This event will demonstrate how councils can introduce a strong user focus to their transport operations, and communicate in a way that resonates with the community, reducing community resistance to change in streets and local transport.
Kelly Skelton, Acting GM Design & Engineering, Auckland Transport
Auckland Transport (AT) is a council-controlled organisation responsible for operating, maintaining, and building Auckland’s road and transport system in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Auckland is transforming how infrastructure is planned and delivered by embedding transport user data and insights from the outset - ensuring engineering solutions support real personal journeys. Join Kelly as she shares how an engineering-led organisation is shifting to a Customer First approach, placing people at the heart of transport infrastructure and street management decisions.
Zoe McMaster, Sustainability Behaviour Change Lead, Merri bek City Council
Zoe will present on how she uses values based messaging (VBM) and engagement in transport projects at Merri-bek to create social licence and connect hearts & minds to controversial projects. Through Merri-bek case studies, she will present on how VBM and behaviour change projects can create appetite for and influence better planning and infrastructure outcomes and uptake for transport projects in the community. She will showcase projects such as Merri-bek’s upcoming 30km/h neighbourhoods and their award-winning Ride & Stride and Open Streets schools programs.
