What to expect

This event will explore how major transport projects need to be planned and delivered when multiple agencies, operators and delivery partners are working at the same time. Using lessons learnt from a number of major transport and infrastructure projects delivered across Australia, including the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) in Victoria, the Myki Ticketing renewal project in Victoria, the Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport in New South Wales, The Wave and the Games infrastructure delivery projects in Queensland, the discussion will focus on how delays, scope changes, third parties’ priorities or staging shifts in one agency's program can affect the assumptions and delivery plans of another.

The intent is to specifically cover

  • How fragmented procurement and packaging decisions create cross-agency delivery risk.
  • Why federated program controls and portfolio, program and project governance matter.
  • How to manage interfaces when one agency's scope changes or staging shifts impact another's operations.
  • How to protect transport planning outcomes in a disrupted, multi-agency construction environment.

The event will explore how program changes across agencies can affect transport planning, delivery staging and network operations. The session is expected to include short technical presentations, followed by a panel discussion, Q&A and networking.

Case studies will include the Level Crossing Removal Program / Metro Trains Melbourne, Future Public Transport Ticketing / myki in Victoria, and Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport.

Registrations close Monday 3 August 2026.
