What to expect
Join the NSW Branch for an in‑person session exploring the future of road safety in New South Wales. As part of TPA’s National Road Safety Week program, this event will share insights from Transport for NSW leaders on the policy, data and delivery challenges shaping the next phase of road safety reform.
Road safety in NSW is at a critical juncture. The forthcoming 2031 Road Safety Action Plan is set to shape the next decade of policy, investment and cross-sector collaboration. At the same time, recent road trauma data shows an increase in fatalities and serious injuries since 2023, reinforcing the need for targeted, evidence-based intervention.
The session will unpack the strategic direction of the Action Plan, highlight key data points and explore what they mean for practitioners across planning, engineering, design, operations and policy. It will also create space for candid discussion:
• What's working?
• What isn’t?
• And what will it take to meaningfully improve safety outcomes across the network?
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how road safety is evolving in NSW, how the latest data is informing decision‑making and how industry can contribute to safer outcomes for all road users. The session also features interactive Q&A and live Slido engagement.

Bernard Carlon – Executive Director, Centre for Road Safety, Transport for NSW
Brana Ravichelvan – Senior Manager, Road Safety Strategy, Transport for NSW

Registration includes light catering, followed by post-event drinks and networking, proudly sponsored by AECOM. Professionals across transport, infrastructure, planning and related fields are encouraged to attend.
