What to expect

Local governments are being asked to do more than ever to improve road safety with limited budgets, dispersed crash risk, and increasing accountability under national road safety strategies. Traditional black spot programs alone are no longer enough.

This webinar will show how Safe System Network Safety Plans provide a practical and achievable way for councils to move from reacting to past crashes toward proactively managing future risk across their entire road and street network. Drawing on real world experience from councils and governments in Australia and internationally, the session focuses on what actually works at local government scale.

Participants will learn how to define the safety function of their network, identify where serious injury and death are most likely to occur in the future, and prioritise investment in a way that aligns with human tolerance to crash forces. The webinar will also address common misconceptions around cost and complexity, demonstrating how effective Network Safety Plans can be developed without six figure budgets.

Registrations close 25 May 2026.
