What to expect
Curious
about how traffic engineers assess and improve intersections—but not sure where
to start? This interactive workshop is designed for students and emerging
professionals with little to no modelling background who want a practical
introduction to intersection modelling using SIDRA.
We’ll begin with a friendly SIDRA 101, covering core concepts and basic
functionality to help you understand what the tool does and how it’s used in
practice.
You’ll then work in small teams on a real‑world intersection problem,
such as a safety issue or a demand bottleneck. Using SIDRA as a guide, teams
will develop and test their own upgrade ideas—there’s no single “right” answer.*
The session wraps up with short team presentations and feedback from experienced transport engineers and modellers, exploring whether solutions are effective, practical, and sustainable. You’ll walk away with a clearer understanding of the thinking and principles behind intersection design and evaluation.
*Please note that participants registering and attending this event will need to bring their own laptop, mouse, and device charger to ensure they can fully participate in the hands-on problem-solving component of the event.
